The Phreedom Van is a 2015 Dodge Ram Promaster Eco-Diesel with 73k miles and slowly rising. She is a high roof 136” wheel base Front Wheel Drive. Built to bring you turn key freedom, this baby comes complete with plenty of power, amenities, comfort and creativity.
POWER
Let’s start with the power. 200 watts of roof mounted solar charges a 200Ah Deep Cycle Hybrid GEL Battery through the Rover 20A MPPT charge controller. A 2000 watt Inverter (DC-AC) covers all your AC needs. These are all Renogy products except for a 60 Amp Powermax (shore power AC-DC charger) for quick and complete charges when you have an AC source (110v, like at home) available. There are two DC plugs available up by the bed under the bookshelf and another two plugs available under the bed behind the fridge. Multiple AC plugs can be found throughout taboot.
Kitchen
With a 75L Dometic dual zone fridge and freezer, two burner propane stove, 8.8lb propane tank, and running water for the sink you are ready to roll and cook amazing meals on the road. The window opens for air flow or blacks out for privacy. Giant drawers and cabinets line the galley with reclaimed pallet wood and pine beetle kill providing you ultimate storage.

The mosaic backsplash lights up the kitchen. Our splash into the sea melts into a snowy mountain scene, I see the path ahead of me. Mosaic is inspired by Phish’s Free
I’M HUNGRY! DINING OPTIONS
The passenger chair swivels around to face the bed. A custom epoxy table swings on a Lagun table leg to allow for eating or preparation between the fridge seating and the passenger chair. Perfect for two to dine.
What’s under the counter?
SLEEP & STORE
A large comfortable queen bed (exact measurements 68″ front to back, 72″ side to side) can easily sleep two (perhaps three for a furry friend). The bed rests at the perfect height to allow for ample storage underneath in the garage space yet you can still sit upright when need be. Four large and long drawers sit underneath the bed, with space for long paddles, skis, chairs and more on the driver’s side. You can easily fit a few paddle boards or a couple bikes on the passenger side, and electrical components are mounted around the wheel well.
PHREE for ALL SEASONS
Incredibly well insulated, this van keeps the hot weather cool and the cold weather feeling warm. Havelock wool lines the walls and ceiling as well as sound deadener. The floor has an inch of foam insulation as well as sound deadener as well. Custom thinsulate curtains and window coverings complete the van for endless options. There is a diesel heater as well for those extra cold nights, and a MaxxAir fan above the bed for added airflow needs, as well as another covering for the fan.

The overhead lights are split between front and back and are dimmable. There is an additional light above the counter for the kitchen. Color changing LEDs line the kitchen backsplash to light up your world just a little extra 😘

A small bookshelf gives you a spot to showcase your books (and maybe read them 🙃) The vase allows for fresh or dried flowers to remain safe while driving. With a shelf that fits a backgammon board underneath, and plug options just below that, everything you need is just a reach away.
SLIDING DOOR & MORE
Along the passenger side of the van, the sliding door comes with a door stop installed. The door is well insulated, and in the middle panel you’ll find some added features. A couple of chalkboards allow you to write notes, lists, mantras, etc. The mirrors are fun and actually act like a full mirror when needed.
Just behind the sliding door, you’ll find all your electronics needs in one place. At the top is the Carbon Monoxide detector, followed by the diesel heater, the Renogy battery monitor, your Inverter switch, then lights (LED color remote, dimmers for overhead pucks). There is room to add more if needed. We left the metal exposed in places to allow for strong magnets to line the door when needed.
All the way back by the bed – more insulation and a comfy headboard. There are a few hooks to hang a string of lights or photos (or both!) if you like.
Mechanical needs/problems
Mechanically the van is running great with no problems. With low miles and a long lasting diesel engine this van could last you a lifetime.
We bought this van this summer in Montana to build it out and get it to it’s new home. It passed a full mechanic inspection and has had a couple oil changes since purchasing, the second one very recently.
There is a small crack in the windshield that has been sealed with Resin. It is on the passenger side.
Update as of January 3, 2024 – received notice of a recall and brought the van in to have it fixed (software update). Also changed driver side headlamp
Update as of January 19, 2024 – got another oil change done! She’s fresh and ready for her new home (or I’ll just keep skiing with her in the mean time 😆)
